The Different Types of Bath Towels
On the road to turning your house into a home, one of the many decisions you
have to make is deciding which bath towels to buy. You may think that this is a
very minor issue, but full set of bath towels in an appropriate color scheme can
give your bathroom a coordinated and inviting appearance, which is especially
important when you have guests over.
While you might get away with the occasional purchase of an uncoordinated bath
towel set, you need to understand that each bat towel serves a very specific
function.
The smallest form of bath towels are generally referred to as washcloths.
Washcloths are small squares of terry cloth meant to aid bathers with lathering
and scrubbing. Since the use of washcloths can be so very personal, you need to
ensure that you have an adequate supply of this type of bath towel so that every
one in your household has his or her own to use. Washcloths are typically sold
in bulk at relatively low prices.
Another type of bath towel is the hand towel, which is commonly seen hanging
near the bathroom sink. Hand towels usually feature many of the design elements
of larger bath towels so it is recommended that you synchronize your towels.
Hand towels are used for drying hands and faces after washing. Hand towels
should never be used as substitutes for washcloths. Hand towels should be
frequently changed.
Bath mats are another type of bath towel used to absorb excess water next to a
bath or shower. Bath mats are usually thicker than standard towels to allow
better absorption and traction.
The standard bath towel is the type of bath towel that many of us use on a daily
basis. Standard bath towels, which provide maximum absorption, are usually
stored in linen closets or hung upon a rack that's mounted on a wall. Standard
bath towels are used for drying off after showering or bathing. People with long
or thick hair can use standard bath towels as makeshift turbans.
Bath sheets are the largest of the bath towels. These extra-large bath towels
can be more than six feet in length. Bath sheets are often found in many hotels
or guest rooms as they tend to be the preferred choice of bath towel over the
standard size bath towels.
